Local Update for EMUI 4.x

With the introduction of Marshmallow for Honor devices many handy features were removed which were present in Lollipop based ROMs and one of the feature was local update’, which helped users to manually flash OTA files (update.zip). But there is a trick to get it back and enable local update in your device.


  1. Your device should be rooted.
  2. Install latest ES Explorer.
  3. Download the following file: http://bit.ly/2e4HzGS


STEP 1 : Open ES explorer, press the 3 lines at the left top corner.

STEP 2 : Scroll and activate ‘Root Explorer’.

STEP 3 : Grant supersu prompt.

STEP 4 : Tap on Root Explorer.

STEP 5 : Tap on Mount R/W. fill all the circles to R/W.

STEP 6 : Now go to /system/app/ and delete HwOUC folder.

STEP 7 : Paste the downloaded HwOUC folder in /system/app/.

STEP 8: Set proper permissions to both the files present in it.



STEP 9 : Open Supersu, Settings,  Click on Full unroot.

STEP 10 : Reboot your device.

STEP 11 : Install the updater app present in the Downloaded zip file.

Check Updater in Settings you will get local update option.
