What does google’s url really mean? :)

Have you ever wondered when ever you type “www.google.com” it redirects which may be similar to “https://www.google.co.in/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=5WWPV-qcPKTv8weBiZygBQ&gws_rd=ssl” well what does it really mean?? here is the answer.

It so happens when you use “google.com” instead of country specific Google search page like “google.co.in”
If we expand, “gfe_rd=cr&ei=5WWPV-qcPKTv8weBiZygBQ&gws_rd=ssl”

gfe – Google Front-End
rd – Redirect
cr – Country
ei – Engine ID
gws – Google Web Server

It means Google web server (gws) getting redirected (rd) by country other than U.S. (cr).

Other letters (which are not highlighted) are directions for these parameters and cookies sent for your browser.

The random combination of numbers and letters is a cookie which is set in your machine.
You can avoid this if you use country specific Google home page (http://www.google.co.in if you are in India) instead of http://www.google.com which will load the country specific page in the first place itself and hence, no redirection is needed.
